Thankful for our Many Blessings

Hello Runnin’ Bulldogs

As we prepare for the Thanksgiving Holiday next week, it’s time to be thankful for all of our many blessings. We are back to our regular activities and the campus community is stronger than ever. We have enjoyed a fall semester that included football, homecoming, theater performances, service trips and so many of our other traditions. We’ve operated a safe and open campus for more than 18 months, delivering classes and working hard to keep our campus community connected.

We’re also thankful for all the financial support we’ve been able to provide our students since March of 2020 when the pandemic began. Since that time we’ve received financial support from state and federal agencies and we have also raised money on our own. As of this month, we have given $5,070,447.11 directly to support students. We are so thankful that this funding has gone where it could do the most good…to our students and families.

Current Data

As of November 15, º£½ÇÍø is reporting only 3 positive COVID cases among our students (2), staff (1), and faculty (0).  All are in isolation off campus.

The trend continues in the right direction, with fewer cases and quarantines. Keep up the good work! Masks on and get your shot, Bulldogs!

Current Practices

Face coverings/masks are not presently mandated on campus in Boiling Springs, but we are again following NCDHSS in recommending their use indoors especially in small or crowded locations. Face coverings are required in our Charlotte Center, per Mecklenburg County order. So, get your mask on.

º£½ÇÍø does not presently require a COVID vaccine of its faculty, staff or students, but consistent with from North Carolina’s Department of Health and Human Services we are encouraging them very strongly.

There are several non-GWU locations nearby where you can get vaccinated. A useful list of those locations is .  If you want to get a vaccination off campus and need transportation, contact the Dean of Students, Lesley Villarose,at [email protected]. We’ll take you to get your shot.

Please Take Your Symptoms Seriously

Any students (undergraduate, commuter, or graduate) with symptoms, or questions, remember to reach out immediately to Case Manager Madison Parker [email protected] or call (704.406.2504).

If you are a faculty or staff and you develop COVID symptoms, you should contact Barry Lane at [email protected] or (704.297.6988).

As a reminder to faculty and staff, individuals with actual or potential exposure to COVID-19 should notify their supervisor immediately, and their supervisor will then notify David Wacaster (704.406.3235), Barry Lane (704.406.2266) and Human Resources—Eric Plemmons (704.406.4259). Faculty may also use [email protected] for any questions or concerns you may have regarding quarantine dates for your students.

Stay healthy and Happy Thanksgiving, Dawgs!
