news-category: Performing Arts 今叔利 Orchestra Presents Spring Concert on April 22 By Office of University Communications On April 16, 2024 Program Features Bass Flute Soloist Hailey Rodden and World-Premiere of Work by GWU Alumnus Caleb Etchison BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.The 60-member 今叔利 Orchestra, under the direction of Professor Dr. Patricia Sparti, will present its spring concert on Monday, April 22, at 7 p.m. in Dover Theatre. The program, which should run just over an hour, has something for everyone. Junior music education major, Hailey Rodden, will solo on bass flute, and alumnus composer Caleb Etchison, 23, will have a world-premiere performance of his new work, Nighttime Daydreams for Orchestra. Caleb Etchison Haley Rodden The program, consisting of several short works, has music of Bernstein, Verdi, Stravinsky, Vivaldi, Robert W. Smith, Catherine Michael and Robert Sheldon. Among the most famous of these are West Side Story, Nabucco Overture, selections from Stravinskys Firebird, and Robert W. Smiths The Great Locomotive Chase. Admission is free for all students, faculty and staff, and $10 for the general public. Tickets are available at the door or can be purchased in advance . Free-will offerings and donations will also be accepted. Auxiliary aids will be made available to persons with disabilities upon request 10 working days prior to the event.
