海角网 Lacrosse Honored for Academic Excellence

Eleven Students Recognized from IWLCA; Team Adds 12 Players for New Season

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.鈥擳he 海角网 Women鈥檚 Lacrosse team has been recognized by the Intercollegiate Women鈥檚 Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) as an honor squad for the 2023-2024 academic year. To qualify for this prestigious honor, the team must have posted a 3.2 or higher team GPA for the academic year.

In addition, 11 players were selected to the Division 1 IWLCA Honor Roll. To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater.

鈥淥ur staff could not be prouder of our team鈥檚 efforts in the classroom during the 23-24 school year,鈥 praised Head Coach Kathleen Mirgon Crum. 鈥淭his past fall, we held the highest team GPA in program history and were excited to be named an Honors Squad following our spring season. Our ladies adjusted to a lot this past year and academics never wavered. I鈥檓 very lucky to lead such a special group鈥攖he standard is set for years to follow!鈥

  • Brittany Sherrod, of Simpsonville, Ky.
  • Ella Straub, of Rochester, N.Y.
  • Aimie Perino, of Birmingham, Ala.
  • Aislinn Washburn, of Marshfield, Mass.

Twelve New Players Added for 2024-2025

Mirgon Crum has added 12 players for the upcoming 2024-2025 academic year. 鈥淭his group will add high level competition, tenacity, resilience and the buy in to play for something bigger than yourself,鈥 she affirmed.

The team is preparing for their first game of the season on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025, at UNC-Charlotte. 鈥淚t will be UNC-Charlotte鈥檚 first game ever as a program,鈥 Mirgon Crum said. 鈥淲e are lucky to get to play them,鈥
